Regardless of the scale of your event, with just a few steps you’ll organize the best Poker Run of the year.

What You Should Do

First, you should decide on how the players will be chosen. You can set up an online raffle and send out invitations to various car collectors, C-suits, or business owners, asking them to participate in the race. You can establish an entry fee or vote-in the participants. Map out the circuit of the poker run and share the itinerary by email to the participants. Highlight the checkpoints and what the players should do when they reach each stop. Do some online research by visiting specialized sites such as Bonus Poker to learn about the various types of poker available. Depending on the game you wish to focus on, you can decide what players should do at each checkpoint. If you’ve decided on standard poker, then players should just draw a card, but if you’ve chosen Texas Hold’em or Omaha you can add a challenge to the game. When the player completes the challenge, he’ll receive his hole card by email on his phone or tablet. When all players have their cards, they should reach a centre meeting point. At this location, all drivers will play the poker game of your choice using the cards they’ve received during the race. To give your event a more casino-type feel you can rent a poker table and hire professional dealer from the local casino. However, as the host of the event you can take on the dealer’s role. The winner of the poker game will donate the funds raised during the event to the charity he supports.

Before We Go

A poker run is an amazing opportunity to raise funds in an entertaining way. You’ll bring awareness about the importance of helping people in need as well as about the significance of responsible gambling.

The Many Lives of Jaime Alguersuari https://sumterracing.com/the-many-lives-of-jaime-alguersuari/ Fri, 21 Sep 2018 13:16:31 +0000 https://sumterracing.com/?p=37 [...]]]> Not many people are lucky enough to combine career and passion but ex F1 racing driver Jaime Alguersuari has managed to do just that time and time again. Though he is most well-known for his breakthrough as an F1 driver, his talents have taken him on to become a radio presenter, a DJ and even a poker star.

The Formation Lap

Jaime Alguersuari was born in Barcelona in 1990 and rapidly displayed his talent for racing. Winning the Italian Formula 1600 Junior Series in 2005 he went on to British Formula Three in 2008. Alongside current Toro Rosso star Brendon Hartley he raced for Carlin Motorsport and became the youngest driver to win the championship. In 2009 he joined the Renault Formula 3.5 Series and was promoted to Formula 1 to race for Toro Rosso, at the time being the youngest driver ever to do so. After racing with Toro Rosso for two and a half seasons, Alguersuari acted as an expert advisor for BBC Radio 5 Live’s commentary of the 2012 F1 season. Following this, he made his debut in Formula E, racing for Virgin Racing in the 2014/15 season after which he retired to follow his other passions.

New Beginnings

While for some Alguersuari had made headlines through motorsport, for others he was most famous as a DJ performing under the name Squire. Well-known in clubs around Ibiza, he also headlined the Barcelona Music Conference in 2010 and released his chart-topping debut album in 2011.

Poker

While still driving for Toro Rosso in 2010, Alguersuari became an ambassador for Party Poker. Initially playing with fellow F1 drivers after testing, he has since taken part in numerous online and physical tournaments. Comparing the process of learning to play poker as a rookie to that of learning to drive in F1, he has since been working on improving his game to move up in tournaments.

Getting your heart racing https://sumterracing.com/getting-your-heart-racing/ Fri, 05 Jan 2018 15:10:25 +0000 https://sumterracing.com/?p=32 [...]]]> There is nothing like watching a good car race to get the blood flowing and the spirit rising. And what better way to add to the excitement and frenetic energy than by placing a few little wagers. Motor sports racing has become one of the most popular sports in the world and with a number of prestigious races around the world, it is not hard to see why. The Monte Carlo Rally was first held in 1911. This asphalt rally race is the yearly season-opener and will have even the biggest cynic hanging on the edge of their seat. Part of its charm is the inability to guess the natural conditions, with drivers having to simply cope with what Mother Nature throws at them. This makes it one of the more unpredictable racing options and opens up endless gambling opportunities. Oftentimes, this race will provide punters with excellent odds and provide potentially huge winnings, and there are a number of online resources which can help the novice to understand more about terms such as spread betting, stakes and odds. The Dakar Rally is notorious for its danger and aggressive conditions. It was first held in 1979 and to win really means something. Drivers need to make it out of this race alive, and every year there are some who don’t. In some cases, drivers have been left for days, stranded after severe mechanical failures hit, even resorting to burning it in order to create a smoke signal for help. The number one race is Le Mans. First held in 1923, this exceptional 24-hour race is something to behold. Most races in recent times have been modernized, upgraded and controlled, but not Le Mans. After the race has begun, cars can disappear for days, crashes occur in the depths of the night, drivers struggle to repair their cars on the side of the tracks, you name it, it happens.

What is Formula One? https://sumterracing.com/what-is-formula-one/ Mon, 18 Sep 2017 13:54:56 +0000 https://sumterracing.com/?p=17 [...]]]> For most people, Formula One is synonymous with motorsports. With the fastest cars on the road, Formula One is an exhilarating sport to behold. With this in mind, we will just outline some of the finer points of the sport that many people might actually miss.

A Little History

Known as F1, it is the highest level of single-seat auto racing. It is monitored by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), founded in 1950, which has been the main forum for this kind of racing since then, though other F1 races were actually in operation until 1983. There are a large number of rules surrounding the sport to which all drivers and manufacturers must conform or risk elimination. Each year the rules are checked through and, on occasion, modified – some with a lot of controversy and complaint. In a single F1 season there are a number of races, called Grand Prix, which are held across the world on different tracks. The drivers and their car manufacturers are then ranked according to their results, with points awarded from a win down to 10th place, in a dual points system.

How It Works

Each Grand Prix takes place over a weekend. The weekend offers two practice runs on the Friday and one on the Saturday allowing the drivers to get the feel for the car and the track. Each team can only use two cars. The qualifying round is then held after the last practice session and is what determines the order in which the cars line up on the Sunday race day. The qualifying laps are run in three sections with the slowest drivers in each qualifier knocked out. Each driver can do a number of laps, but it is only the fastest time that will be considered. After the order is determined the race itself will start with a warm-up lap before the race begins in earnest.

All about Michael Schumacher https://sumterracing.com/all-about-michael-schumacher/ Thu, 31 Aug 2017 13:53:36 +0000 https://sumterracing.com/?p=15 [...]]]> Arguably the greatest Formula One driver of all time, German Michael Schumacher was born in January 1969. His love of driving blossomed early when he took to karting at the tender age of 6. He went on to win a number of karting championships almost immediately. At 18 he made his first foray into the world of single seat car racing and was soon signed on to a Formula Three team. From there, his career took off.

Formula One Career

Known for his fast laps at important moments, Schumacher cemented himself as one to watch. He is the only driver to ever win seven Formula One World Championships. In addition to this feat, five were consecutive. Driving predominantly for Ferrari, he also holds records in most Grand Prix wins – 91, most pole positions at 68 and the highest number of fastest laps with 77. This makes him statistically the best driver in the history of the sport. Whilst he was driving in Formula One for a while, it wasn’t until his transition in 1996 that really saw both him and them transform into the winning combination they became. He retired in 2006 only to return in 2012 to drive for Mercedes. The run was less successful and in 2012 he retired once more.

The Accident

In December 2013 tragedy struck. Whilst out skiing with his son, Schumacher crossed an unsecured area of the ski slope, fell and hit his head on a rock. The accident caused him to sustain a severe head injury, one that would have killed him if he had not been wearing a helmet. Upon arrival at the hospital, he was placed in a medically induced coma, a state he remained in for nearly half a year. By mid-2014, he had regained consciousness and was moved to another hospital to continue rehabilitation. At this time there is still very little known about his recovery, if indeed there has been much. It is reported that he has severe memory loss, cannot speak and is paralyzed. It still remains to be seen if this once great driver will ever come back to his former self.Despite this, his successes are still on the record books and he remains a legend and an icon to millions around the world.
